E-Pace promises style, performance and plenty of luxury

The 2018 Jaguar E-Pace is one of the most highly anticipated compact luxury SUVs to come along in years, thanks to a stunning design, strong performance, excellent fuel economy, and a large, comfortable, beautifully finished cabin.

The E-Pace’ bigger brother set the styling benchmark when it arrived on the luxury SUV scene two years ago, but fast growth in the smaller subcompact luxury SUV segment shows there’s plenty of opportunity below the F-Pace for a good looking, high-quality sibling, and this new entry-level Jaguar appears only too capable to take up the slack.

Strong performance combines with excellent fuel economy

A key selling point is the E-Pace’ new 2.0-litre turbocharged Ingenium engine lineup, starting with 246 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque it’s the most powerful base engine in its class, while an optional version of the same powerplant makes a heady 296 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Both are mated to an ultra-advanced nine-speed automatic transmission with available paddle shifters to improve performance, and auto start/stop to enhance fuel efficiency while reducing emissions, whereas standard torque vectoring all-wheel drive aids control and safety. Standard Sport, Eco, Rain, Ice and Snow driving modes allow ideal road-holding no matter the weather conditions, while sport-tuned stability and traction control make the most of available grip.

To help you figure out how the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace stacks up next to its premium-branded competitors, we’ve put together a simple, straightforward, point-form list of key standard features and specifications (plus options) from the base trim levels of its closest challengers, including 2018 versions of the Audi Q3, Infiniti QX30, Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, and Range Rover Evoque, so go ahead and make your own decision about which compact luxury SUV best suits your family’s needs:

Jaguar offers more advanced driver safety features than any rival

Thanks to more available advanced driver assistance systems than any competitor, 2018 Jaguar E-Pace owners can enjoy the ease of automatically dimming the high beams while using dynamic cruise control on the highway, plus the peace of mind that comes from standard autonomous emergency braking and lane keeping assist. The E-Pace’ traffic sign recognition capability can point out when the speed limit changes (amongst other warnings) too, which benefits road safety and might even save you money. What’s more, the E-Pace has a standard driver condition monitor that warns you when you’re getting drowsy and then prompts you to pull over and take a rest.

Also impressive, the E-Pace’ standard 10.0-inch infotainment touchscreen is the largest in its class, which means you’ll benefit from much better backup camera visibility as well as plenty of standard and available features, while it’s one of the only vehicles in its segment to include standard front and rear parking sensors, improving safety and convenience further.

Plenty of standard features combine for excellent value

Additional standard features not yet mentioned include full LED headlights, pushbutton ignition, an electromechanical parking brake, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, rain-sensing wipers, a colour multi-information display, dual-zone automatic climate control, and much more, while everyone on board can charge up their smartphone in one of five available USB charging ports.

On top of all this, the new E-Pace offers more rear legroom than the majority of its competitors, plus more cargo space.

There’s a great deal more to the 2018 Jaguar E-Pace than we can possibly show you here, so make sure to arrange a test drive by contacting Jaguar Vancouver at (604) 738-5577 or come visit the showroom at 1730 Burrard Street, Vancouver.
